Marti Clayton

Ms. Clayton has been teaching since 1985. During that time, she taught Head Start (preschool) in inner-city Chicago, primary (K-3) special education inclusion classes, and a 3rd-grade general education class in suburban Chicago. She and her family moved to Perrysburg, Ohio in 2004, which is when she began teaching for Otsego. She taught preschool for eleven years and is in her sixth year of teaching 4th grade!  She looks forward to growing, learning, and laughing with her students every day. She has a B.A. in elementary and special education from the University of Iowa as well as a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. Her son, Ian, 30, has a degree in French from BGSU. He currently lives in Chicago where he works as a forklift mechanic.  He also writes music and short storiesHer daughter, Bethany, 27, holds a philosophy degree from Bard College. She is working on a Master's degree in English as a Second Language at Michigan State in Lansing, MI. Ms. Clayton enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, their Pitbull, Scout, and Scoodle, Obie. They have two grandchildren whom they enjoy very much.  She also likes reading, biking, lying in her hammock, and playing rhythm guitar & singing with the Cottonwood Jam String Band.
